a photo of myself, Ken Surridge, tutor at KSLearning and chair of Porridge and Rice

I read voraciously, adore playing Bridge, love listening to Radio 4, enjoy music from modern to classical, and keep a range of small animals as pets.

I earn my living by teaching privately, and when not working, I lead a charity called Porridge and Rice with a committee, all of whom are volunteers.

Having completed my A Levels in July 2019, I have decided to take a gap year before reading Physics at university in 2020.

I enjoy racket sports, reading scientific literature, programming in C++, watching videos about cooking usually by Gordon Ramsey and playing strategy games like Chess, Catan, Sid meier's Civilisation and Poker. In summer 2018, I volunteered with Porridge and Rice for 4 weeks working in the Nairobi slums in the charity's partner schools.

My name is Jamie, I'm sixteen, and I've been volunteering with Porridge and Rice for just over a year. I'm a member of the Porridge and Rice Young Volunteers who perform supportive tasks like cleaning and caring for all the animals in Ken's urban farm. I also help out at the charity's fairs and fundraisers.

I attend Waldgrave School where I'm studying A levels in Geography, Sociology and Psychology. In my spare time (when I'm not helping Ken) I'm usually doing something football related. I'm a season ticket holder at Brentford and play on Saturday mornings for a local team.

I would like to travel to Kenya next summer with the charity and I'm guessing football coaching would be something I could do with the kids. I'd also like to link the trip to my Geography A level in some way.
